I did not plan on taking an extended break from the blog. It was only supposed to be a week, maybe two, but I felt I was being pulled in too many directions. It’s the curse of the creative mind. I took some time to do some serious business planning to figure out what I was doing and if what I was doing really mattered. Basically the business version of The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up.
I have Lara Casey to thank for getting my head back in the game! If you haven’t tried her POWERSHEETS, I highly suggest you try them. They really do help you figure out how to fine tune your goals.
I spent most of the summer either at the pool with my family or trying to keep the kids busy. After the deployment, I really felt that I needed time to spend with my family as a whole and stay off the internet for the most part. I’m feeling super refreshed!
I have some updates I REALLY need to share with you.
- I dropped the food blog. Although I love cooking, I just don’t have enough hours in the day to test recipes, cook, set up props AND photograph them on a regular basis. If I do make something amazing that must be shared with the masses, I’ll throw it up here. Probably not too often though. Sorry foodies, it had to be done!
- Second, I’m officially opening up a studio here in San Diego. I decided to take the leap and invest in a permanent space here in San Diego. Investing in a studio space is scary and expensive, but it’s what my family needs. Spending all my time working from home means I have a hard time separating work and family. I had to take the leap after my daughter said that I work on the computer ALL.THE.TIME. With kindergarten starting soon, the timing was right.
- I started a second photography brand, Maria Jung Photography, that caters solely to high school seniors here in San Diego. I adore working with this age group just as much as I love working with my families. They’re so much fun!
- I’ve also decided to fine tune my niche over at August Joy Photography. Families, children and military homecomings will be my primary focus.
You’ll be see a lot of me around here now that I’ve got a ton of things to share!
