Day 23 is about organizing your computer and digital files you may have elsewhere (ie external hard drives, cloud storage, etc). I actually do a pretty good job of keep my computer files very organized and I make sure to back up my photos and files often. Here is a link to a post I wrote about backing up files, specifically photos. My Mac also has time machine for automatic backups of my entire system. <- Best thing ever. I’ve also heard amazing things about Backblaze.
Regarding the actual organization of your files, try to clean up your desktop screen, empty out the trash, sort similar files into folders, etc.
How I organize files:
I have four main folders (business, blog, personal, and documents). Each one of those are broken down by year, then those are broken down by month, and months are broken down into smaller, more identifying folders with the date. This system may not work for you, but it’s an absolute life saver for me. It keeps everything in chronological order and I’m able to find what I need really quickly.
I also only keep a year’s worth of files (give or take a couple months) on my hard drive and keep previous years on external drives. I go through my computer about once a month and purge files and software I no longer need, which helps my system to run incredibly fast. I approach software the same way I approach other things in my house. If I haven’t used it in 6(ish) months, then it needs to go.
