I love E’s nursery, but I know that he will most likely be climbing out of his crib by the time we move. The plan is to give away both the crib and toddler bed we have in storage and put our current bedroom set into his future big boy room. Since his new furniture will be dark, I’ll need to lighten up some of the decor for a little more balance and incorporate more textures. I’m going to stick with the current nursery theme so we can reuse a lot of the decor items. Here are a few ideas I have for E’s nautical toddler room.
I’ve already purchased the striped duvet cover from Pottery Barn for a steal. I’m eyeing those weathered oars, but they’re not in stock until after we move. We have a lantern table lamp in his nursery right now, but I’m considering giving it an oil rubbed bronze finish or maybe even a brighter red or a fun yellow. Thoughts?
We have the exact same National Geographic map that has been in storage since we moved to Korea. We bought it at an awesome map store on Pine Street when we lived in Seattle (pre baby era). I have five yards of the Racing Stripe fabric from Serena & Lily for drapes that I got on sale. I’m still on the search for more fabric to tie everything together. Little bit of navy blue and golden yellow?
I’m also considering hacking the Ikea bed and adding an upholstered headboard to it. Burlap makes me itch, so I’ll probably use a linen in the same warm brown color. I’ve got rough plans on how I’m going to fit it over the current headboard. I don’t want to damage the frame with holes in case we decide to sell it in a few years.
Can I also pause for a second and ask how the heck my baby become a toddler? Time is not my friend. It’s hard to believe that he’s already eighteen months old.
What other colors do you think I should incorporate into his nautical toddler room? I’m leaning towards navy blue and a gold yellow, but I think chambray would be fun also.
