Lazy Weekend

September 19, 2011 by Maria Jung Leave a Comment

We had an amazing weekend here in Monterey. First, I got my haircut by Katie from Coiffed by Katie. She is so sweet and gave me an AMAZING haircut for a steal. She also does color and she was even on TLC’s “A Makeover Story”. I’m going to need to upload a picture soon.

Our little family went out to lunch at a small restaurant called Red House Cafe in downtown PG. This place has some serious yummy food and some great vintage charm. It was built in 1895 and has great antiques and cozy little dining rooms with no more than four tables per room.

V and I shared the grilled portobello sandwich with goat cheese. It’s one of my favorites there. My daughter loved it too.
After lunch we took a stroll down the street and looked around Blessings Boutique. I’m pretty sure most of the goodies in here are replicas, but they have some great furniture and TONS of things to look at.
I would love to have a little cabinet like this to display all my cake pedestals and vintage thrift store finds. The drawer would be perfect for storing table linens. Finding something like this is my next LCM (Last Chance Mechantile) mission.
I downloaded some free clipart just a few days ago with this design. I’m going to have to find a way to steal this idea.
This is the back part of the shop that I nearly went crazy in. All the “stuff” can be overwhelming for some, but I live for the hunt. It took about five laps in here to find a vintage Mother Goose story book and some cute tags I plan on using this week.
On Sunday, the munchkin and I took a walk along the water in Cannery Row and wasted some time in the Antique Mall. There is so much stuff in here that I would love to take home, but my husband says I’m addicted to antiquing. I resisted the urge to purchase, but made a mental note of the things I loved for the future.
I actually like the color of this secretary and the fact that it has curvy legs and a display case on top.
Mercury glass finials anyone? I think these would look great on a bookshelf. These might be coming home with me real soon.
I think this is THE perfect sideboard. I love all the details and the fact that it has little metal casters. I heart it so much. Who wants to buy this for me?

Oh yeah, I’m sure you noticed that my blog looks different. What do you think? You like?

I’m off to clean the house and get things organized while my little one sleeps. Hope everyone had a great weekend!
