I’m legitimately stumped and need some ideas about what we should put above our bed. I’ve traded South Florida hurricanes and S.Korea typhoons for SoCal earthquakes. The big difference between hurricanes/typhoons and an earthquake is that you get a pretty good warning before a tropical storm hits land. Not the case with earthquakes. I’ve always wanted to hang a gorgeous mirror above our bed, but that is out of the question with the possibility of earthquakes in our San Diego house. That’s where the design dilemma comes in.
Even though I’m certain I could anchor frames or a mirror securely into the wall studs, I’m worried that a big quake could shatter glass. Shards of glass falling on my face in the middle of the night does not sound like a good time. The question is, what do I do about the large space above the bed?
Option A: Get a bed with a taller headboard.
Option B: Hang a light weight stretched canvas.
Option C: Visual interest with a stencil or trim detail.
I’m leaning towards finding a bed with a tall headboard and possibly adding trim to add interest. What do you think?
