I just want to say thank you for the warm responses on my business changes post, especially on Facebook. You are amazing! I figured we need to do a little catching up, hence, coffee talk.
What have I been up to?
A whole lot of nothing and it feels FANTASTIC. Well, not necessarily “nothing”. Normal house chores, a broken finger, sick kids, preschool and ballet, late night emergency room visit, date nights, out of town guests and a million other things I’m sure you don’t really want to hear about.
I also went to dinner with some ladies in the photography industry. It was nice getting to meet other San Diego photographers even though I’m “retired” from portrait photography (for now). We have another dinner planned for next week.
Why the long break away from blogging?
The biggest reason was that I needed to focus on getting the house in order after the move. An international move with two little ones takes a little more energy than most moves. The logistics of getting all our belongings and our car from Korea to San Diego was a long (often aggravating) process. We shipped most of our items at the beginning of July and we JUST got the last of our belongings a couple days ago.
The second reason was that my computer came in the last shipment. It was too difficult and time consuming trying to type on my iPad. Don’t even get me started on trying to upload pictures on that thing. The good news is that I’m back and I’ve got so many posts that I need to share with you.
How is the house coming along?
To be honest, I’ve stalled. The walls are still not completely painted in the master bedroom. Part of it has to do with the vaulted ceilings and the other part is just pure 100% laziness.
I am working on getting the playroom/office finished soon. Lots of bright and cheerful accessories are slowly making this one happy space for the kiddos. I can work or sew while the kids play nearby. Also, having a couch in a playroom is a MUST. Perfect for tired parents and snuggling up with books. Now if I could get the toddler to stop coloring on the darn thing.
I also have a dozen of small projects I’m working on. Mostly curtains, quilts, and kid related stuff. Anyone else feel like they’re surrounded by a million half finished projects?
How is San Diego?
It’s amazing! There were awful heat waves in August and September, but things are finally cooling down.
We’ve visited most of the tourist spots and are on the hunt for GOOD restaurants in the area. We’ve been to quite a few terrible restaurants that had great reviews on Yelp. I guess we were spoiled with really amazing restaurants in Monterey and Seoul or Yelp is no longer a good source for reviews. I’m hoping it’s that latter because I really love not having to cook at home all the time. If you know of any great restaurants in San Diego, PLEASE let me know! I’m one bland fish taco away from officially striking San Diego restaurants.
If you’re looking for recommendations in the Monterey, CA or for the Seoul, Korea area, send me an email or leave a comment.
ETA on the AJP Workflow Photoshop Actions?
Mid to late November. I’ve decided to offer up the basic actions….. FOR FREE! The full set will be available at the same time. You’ll be able to purchase the full AJP Workflow Action sets and fine art photography prints once I getting the shopping cart feature up and running on the site.
Not really. I’m still trying to get the last few boxes unpacked and organized. Also, empty boxes equal endless entertainment for the preschool/toddler crowd. Best toy I didn’t have to buy.
I’ve got a lot of recipes to share, fun photography projects and some room updates for you. So good to be back!
