Well, if I couldn’t have it, my dear friend had to. So I called her and sent her this picture message and let her know that it was on sale and that SHE HAD TO HAVE IT. So she bought it, but the thought of refinishing her first piece of furniture was a little intimidating so it sat in the garage untouched.
A few months passed and her family was getting ready to move into a home closer to ours. Yay me! We had a play date with our little girls while our husbands moved everything over to their new house. Then we get a phone call from the guys saying that this desk was not going to fit in the house. It could not make it through any of the doors. Jessica and I talk it over and in about 30 seconds we decided that she was going to get the curbside desk and I was going to get hers.
P literally said with a smirk on his face, “I don’t know how you managed to get what you want.” Well, all I have to say is that round two goes to me.
I patched, sanded, and gave this desk a little tlc before a few coats of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Paris Grey. Unfortunately I ran out and the top of the desk had a square foot of unpainted surface. UGH! I considered buying another can, but couldn’t justify it for just a little area missing coverage. Luckily I hoard paint, so I busted out some Old White chalk paint and a little black acrylic enamel until the shade matched perfectly. Disaster averted.
I love all the detail and all the space in the drawers. It’s perfect for a pile-er (like my made up word?) like me. I keep my messes contained in bins and boxes everywhere. Did I mention that I love this desk. LOVE IT! Plus there is room in the middle drawer so I can keep the munchkin away from the keyboard. She’s in a button obsessed phase.
I also happen to love all the little things like the art and faux flowers. I made this little skeleton key picture frame in about 5 minutes with a little help from some leftover scrapbooking paper, hot glue gun and keys I have stashed away.
I really wish I could paint the walls, I think that would make a huge impact. Also winning a shop ‘til you drop shopping spree and a home décor store might help too. This is now where I blog (and pin, and facebook, and tweet…etc). So what do you think about my new desk?
