28 Week Update

September 17, 2012 by Maria Jung 6 Comments

Oh friends, it’s been awhile and for good reason. We’ve been in the midst of some major packing and moving action. We saw 98% of our stuff leave in shipping crates last Friday and we’re currently camping in our house. We have two air mattresses, a pair of lawn chairs, a lounge chair, a folding table with our computer stuff on top, and our linens. It’s interesting to say the least! We’ll be living like this for the next couple weeks here in Monterey, staying in a way too expensive hotel once we get to Korea, and then we’ll be camping again in our new home until our household goods show up sometime in November. Here’s a little photo P took right after the movers left.

Real fancy, huh? We’ve been making it work with lots of outings around town and going out to eat… A LOT! I’m actually extremely relieved that everything is gone. It just means we’re that much closer to moving and even that much closer to meeting our little guy. Can’t believe I’m 28 weeks already! Where has the time gone!?

We took a few family photos with Erin White Photography right after the movers left with all our stuff. It’ll probably be the last family photo we take before baby #2 arrives.

Although I’ve gained less than 20 lbs to date, I think I look and I definitely feel like it should be closer to 30 (hindsight on the stripes). Maybe that’s because baby boy is measuring 4 weeks ahead of schedule? We have another ultrasound in just a couple days to see what’s going on with little dude and to see if he’s going to be a large baby just like Pwas.

Overall, I’m feeling pretty good. I’m having a lot of posterior pelvic pain. Thankfully it’s not chronic. Light massage and sitting in various awkward positions alleviates the pain and helps my pelvis realign. Being short and carrying a larger baby is definitely taking it’s toll!

Other than that, I’ve been pretty great. The heartburn is not nearly as bad as it was with my daughter, I sleep through the night and rarely ever have to get up to use the bathroom, and I’m extremely grateful not to be on bed rest.

I’ll try to keep you posted on the shenanigans going on here as much as I can. Hoping I can get some sewing in before we fly out. Ah yes, I am bringing my sewing machine with me. Priorities *wink*.

You look great! And it’s fantastic that you’ve not had to be put on bedrest. I’m sure it’d be much harder with a toddler running around, too!

I could not imagine bed rest with a super active toddler. I’d definitely need help from family!
