Time for an update on the kid rooms, especially since I’ve started changes things around since I took these pictures last week. There is still a lot to be done, but hopefully it’ll be finished before the new year. I didn’t stage these photos, so what you see is pretty much what it looks like on a good day. Fingerprints on mirrors, scratched up dressers, crooked crib bedding and all.
First up, V’s room.
The plan for V’s room:
- New dressers/nightstands
- Sew and hang drapes
- Make an upholstered headboard
- Move the art around
- New rug???
- Sew a larger quilt?
I just moved the antique dresser to the dining room and will be moving the nightstand to the living room as soon as her new dressers are finished. The mounted hook rack is perfect for hanging up her necklaces and princess dresses (that day was laundry day). She can reach the hooks and it keeps her play clothes off the floor.
Next up is E’s nursery, which needs a lot of work.
The plan:
- Refinish the dresser/new knobs
- Hang up artwork above dresser
- Sew and hang drapes
- Something fun on the large wall
Remove the glider(removed early because the kids think it’s a toy)- New rug????
Even though E is almost two, he is perfectly happy in his crib and I don’t think he’ll be climbing out any time soon. *knock on wood* That being said, he’s too tall to have anything hanging above his bed. I don’t want him pulling it down and hurting himself. I was thinking of doing something with maps, but it might be too busy with the colors already going on with his bedding. Wall of small decals? Thoughts?
Just a reminder of what the original plan was for V’s room and E’s room. Also, the crib rail guard tutorial can be found here.
Random tangent, but I need to talk about the paint for a second. All the walls in the house are painted Sherwin Williams Pediment (except the dining room). In my opinion, it’s the perfect neutral gray for a photographer. I can set my white balance with the wall paint and you can see from the color picker below that it’s pretty darn close to 18% gray. Yes, I’m geeking out over paint.
