Click It Up a Notch | Giveaway

We invested in my starter DSLR right after our point and shoot died on us. I took photography courses a long time ago but I wanted to be better. I hopped on the internet and found Courtney’s blog Click It Up a Notch and started my journey shortly after her’s. Her blog is the sole reason why I switched to back button focusing and why I started using the Kelvin method. I was crazy excited to find out that she finally released her ebook The Unexpected Everyday. I was even more excited that she wants to giveaway one copy and a special 30 minute video conference session to one of you! Amazing, right?!

The Unexpected Everyday

Let’s talk a little bit about the book. I’m a self help/non fiction kind of gal, so this ebook was right up my alley. Something purely about photography is gold to me. Once I started reading Courtney’s book, I could not stop. Her writing is so relatable and genuine. The photo examples that go with each topic help break up the reading and also provide inspiration. My favorite part of the book are her prompts to help you improve your photography.

Did you just get a new DSLR? Are you a parent wanting to take better pictures of your children? Are you looking to improve your skills or in a rut? Then this book is for you! The Unexpected Everyday is an easy read and the topics and suggestions are easy to follow.

Let’s get this giveaway started! Winner will receive a copy of The Unexpected Everyday, a 30 day ebook challenge to improve your photography and document your kids. Winner will also win a 30 minute video conference with Courtney from Click it Up a Notch. Ask her anything about photography, blogging, or social media. Use the Rafflecopter widget below to enter. Giveaway ends January 27th at 11:59pm EST. Good luck!

I would like to improve my photography skills to learn what I need to know to be a “real photographer”! Oh, I can take some great pictures as long as the camera stays on auto, but I really want to do more with my photos. I have a secret dream of creating my own small photography business. Right I get lots of practice on my four grandchildren, but I know there is more out there.

I am in the process of trying to read everything I can find to learn about photography. I can’t tell you the difference between fstop and aperture. I am an old dog, but I swear I can learn new tricks. I am sure The Unexpected Everyday has a wealth of information for me to learn!

Thanks for sharing with this giveaway. Someone is going to be very camera happy.

Right after I started college, my mom was killed by a drunk driver…most of the photos I have of us are from my childhood…I never really knew my mom as an adult and I certainly don’t have pics with her…fast forward a few years and Hurricane Rita sweeps through SE Texas and my brother, Michael, loses every photo album from his childhood…including photos of him and mom…fast forward a few years and while I don’t have my own children…I have a brand new niece…the first girl born in our family since me and I have a husband and I have two silly pups and one of the things that grabs me about photography is that we live in this really brilliant age of great images and people who document moments in time…without the silly studio floating head gimmicks of the 70’s and 80’s…haha….I want to be a part of that…I want my images to be a testament to family and love…I don’t want my niece, Ella, to not have images of her mom when she’s my age…even if that means I have to force my brother and sis-n-law in front of the camera every now and again… 😉 Because it is important…not just when kids are little, but when they are teenaged and surly (I teach high school), when they are in college and the family gathers for a holiday or an everyday, when couples are empty nesters…when they are silver-haired and parchment-skinned…to document life…every day…there are moments when I am sad I don’t know my mom as an adult and that we don’t have many pics together, but I keep her in my heart and in my memory…and I continue forward…one frame at a time.

I am always looking to improve my photography! I really want to improve my lifestyle shooting skills for my personal pictures of family!

  28. 32

It was actually one of my goals to work on this year. Last year I was expecting and it ended up being a high risk pregnancy & my sweet baby girl was born at 27 wks so all attention was given to her and my camera although it was being used, and I was able to document our journey there were times I had wished I was more confident with what I was trying to capture especially since I only had a tiny window. I would love to be able to go back to the NICU and capture special moments for other parents because for me the images I was able to capture were beyond special I truly cherish it. Thanks so much for the chance!
