For those of you who don’t know, my mom lives with us. It’s really great to have someone help you out around the house and with the little one during the day. She’s been on “vacation” for the last couple months and she was completely shocked to come home to a house that looks completely different.

Remember this beauty?

That’s Amelie, you can read about that makeover here. When my mom left for Seattle, I was still working on this dresser and so she was completely shocked to see the finished product. Well, it has changed since my last post. No, I didn’t change the dresser, but I did do a few things to spice things up.

This is what it looks like now:

The candlesticks are from the thrift store & I paint them with ASCP in Duck Egg Blue. The large mirror was from Goodwill & I got just the frame for $3.25. This is what it looked like before:
I loved the design and details, but the color was a little much for me. A coat of ASCP in Duck Egg fixed that. I’m now considering painting it Old White because the hubby doesn’t like it. He thinks our house is turning into Pee Wee Herman’s Playhouse with all the blue lately.

I’m also in the process of redecorating my mom’s room. I’ll keep you updated on the process. I’ve only finished the dresser so far, so this might be a slow, slow, slow process.

Hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween!

xoxo Maria

It was not completely smooth and there were some snags in the wood. I started by giving it two coats of ebony wood stain I had leftover from the antique dresser. […]
