We’re gearing up for another big move, but from Korea to California this time around. I know that I mentioned in my simplify post that I wasn’t planning on changing anything in the kid rooms. That changed. I decided to go ahead and pretty much start from scratch when get get back to the US. I’m going to get rid of everything in V’s room including the headboard and nightstand. I figured I had better make a big girl bedroom inspiration board before the move to see what really needs to stay and what can to go before the movers get here.
- We need solid pieces that can withstand the constant moving that comes with the military.
- The original color palette was based off of my favorite bedroom colors and not hers. I need to let some of the current colors in her room (chartreuse & turquoise) be the accents and let pink (her favorite) take center stage.
Braemore’s Emperors Garden in Blossom was the starting point for V’s new big girl bedroom. I already have the bedding and pillows from Pottery Barn as well as the Michelle Armas print. I adore the DIY dresser hack from Centsational Girl and will probably do something similar with V’s current dresser.
I’m also considering using a trio of prints from my “Pink” series as the center of her new gallery wall, but won’t be making any decisions until after we see how much wall space we have in the new house.
I’m super excited to let V in on the decorating process. She actually picked out her bedding and the fabric. I opened up three windows on my monitor with my top three choices for fabric and bedding so she could choose. She picked my number one choice for fabric, but third choice in bedding. Win some, lose some. The only thing that matters is that she loves it. She has formed quite the opinion on everything these days. “I don’t like that, it’s blue. Blue is not my color, it’s E’s color. Pink is my color. I LIKE PINK!” -V 2014
