Things in the “master” bedroom get changed up every couple months. If you’re wondering why I use quotations, it’s because we rent a tiny (like 912 sq. ft. tiny) California bungalow and the “master” bedroom is only 12’x13’ with a tiny closet. I pretty much hate the size, but we make it work, especially when the average cost of a home in Monterey is $800K. Yeah, you read that right, $800,000. We rent and since we’re a military family, it works incredibly well.
Aaaaaand moving on. Since I’m always changing things up, I like to go shopping in my house for stuff. I just recently swapped out the curtains and pillows and realized that the art was a little too depressing for me. Black and white landscape prints were the only thing the mister and I could agree on a few years back. I decided it had to go.
Swapped the blah black and white with some colorful green and turquoise prints on top of some neutral cardstock. My husband went with me to the craft store and literally said, “Maria, there are so many other beautiful colors besides that bluish green (a male’s version of turquoise), please, PUH-LEEEASE…. pick anything else.” So I chose a warm champagne colored linen cardstock that had just a bit of sheen to it. I’m actually glad he was there to stop me because I love it, I love it a lot.
If you’re wondering about our bedside lamps, we got them at Tar-jay a few years ago and I painted them using Martha Stewart’s Arabesque stencil kit I got from Michaels. Got to love their coupons baby! I used a small thing of craft paint (think it was $1) and a stencil sponge.
